Your Patient Journey
Consultation
If you are new to the practice, a full dental examination will need to be completed, including a set of X-rays. The condition of your soft tissues (gums and tongue) will also be examined.
Once your dentist has explained the implant process and you are happy to proceed, a CBCT scan is taken. This reveals the condition of your jawbone and the areas with the largest bone density.
‘Teeth in a Day’ and Healing Period
Your implants are placed under local anaesthetic, and a temporary set of teeth are screwed in over the top. Your jaw will take between 3-6 months to heal. A dental impression of your mouth is taken during this appointment.
Replacing Your Temporary Teeth
Once your jaw has healed, the temporary teeth can be replaced with a permanent set of teeth, which are designed and fabricated using accurate digital impressions of your teeth.
FAQs
What are All-on-4 dental implants?
This innovative system uses a small number of implants to replace a full set of top or bottom teeth. A temporary set of teeth is provided on the same day as your implant surgery while you wait for your jaw to heal and your permanent teeth to be designed and made by our partner dental laboratory.
Why are dental implants so highly regarded for tooth replacement?
Implants resolve the issue of jawbone recession, which occurs in patients who have missing teeth or who have bridges or removable dentures. Implants are replacement tooth roots that revive the connection with the jawbone, helping it to function and look aesthetically robust.
Am I a good candidate for All-on-4 implants?
During your consultation, your dentist will perform a thorough examination to determine your suitability for treatment. Patients who make good candidates for All-on-4 ‘teeth-in-a-day’ may be living with the following:
- Broken teeth that cannot be repaired.
- Loose teeth as a result of gum disease that cannot be salvaged with periodontal and restorative treatment.
- Loose dentures which move around in your mouth when you chew and talk (this can be common after years of wearing dentures, as the jawbone recedes due to lack of dental stimulation).
- Missing teeth.
